Crime Drama From Amy Holden Jones & Matt Nix Gets CBS Put Pilot Commitment

Black Box creator Amy Holden Jones has teamed with Burn Notice and Complications creator Matt Nix for a crime drama, which has landed at CBS with a put pilot commitment backed by a large penalty. The untitled project hails from 20th Century Fox TV, where Nix is under an overall deal and Jones had a premium blind deal.

Written by Mystic Pizza and Beethoven scribe Jones, the drama centers on an explosive, rule-breaking, fearless female detective with no filter who enlists the help of a polite and gentle brainiac who studies the biology of evil to solve cases for the LA Violent Crimes Unit. Jones and Nix executive produce.

This marks the second put pilot commitment for Nix this season, in addition to the truck hijacking hourlong comedy he has at Fox with Peter Berg.

In addition to the Jones/Nix project, CBS also has handed a put pilot commitment legal drama Sawyer & Huck, based on the Mark Twain characters, and a pilot production commitment to a cop drama based on the movie Training Day.

Jones is repped by WME and 3 Arts; Nix is with WME and Mikkel Bondesen.
