‘Teen Choice Awards’ Ratings Stay Even

The Teen Choice Awards served its purpose for Fox, helping to promote new teen horror comedy Scream Queens, whose stat Lea Michele won an award; new comedy Grandfathered, whose viral young star Josh Peck co-hosted the event; and breakout drama Empire, which also won and was showcased with a music performance. Teen Choice Awards scored in its target demographic, ranking as the No. 1 program of the night in teens. In total viewers (2.8 million) and adults 18-49 (0.8), the awards show was even with last year.

The other originals last night fluctuated. ABC’s Bachelor In Paradise (1.3 in 18-49) was up a tenth to a Sunday high, and Save My Life: Boston Trauma (0.7) also was up a tenth from last week when the two programs faced football competition.

CBS’ primetime was pushed by 30 minutes in the Eastern and Central time zones by the conclusion of the PGA golf championship. Preliminary, not time-zone adjusted numbers have Big Brother (2.0 in 18-49, 6.26 million viewers) down a tenth from last week’s fast nationals and posting the largest Sunday audience of the summer. NBC aired repeats and an Ed Sheeran concert special (0.5, 2.1 million).
