‘Best Time Ever with Neil Patrick Harris’ Tuesday Schedule Tweaked Again By NBC

NBC is making another change in the Tuesday air pattern for new variety show Best Time Ever with Neil Patrick Harris, which will now spend the bulk of its eight-episode run at 8 PM.

The show was originally slated to air entirely in the Tuesday 10 PM slot, behind The Voice and new drama Heartbreaker. NBC nbclogo__130422182418-150x150was forced to change its Tuesday lineup by the pregnancy of Heartbreaker star Melissa George, which was not revealed until after the upfronts. Now Best Time will get just two 10 PM outings — on September 15 behind the America’s Got Talent finale and September 22 behind The Voice Tuesday season premiere — before moving to 8 PM for the remaining six weeks. The Voice will keeps its two-hour running time on September 29 and October 6, just shifting from a start time of 8 to 9 PM.

I hear that Harris and Best Time Ever producers wished all along for an 8 PM slot as the show was conceived as a family-friendly program (the British original airs at 7 PM on Saturdays). The new schedule suits the series’ tone while also giving Best Time Ever the best possible launch pad with lead-ins from the season finale and premiere of NBC’s top variety shows, AGT and The Voice.

In a previous revised NBC Tuesday schedule, Best Time Ever had been slated to debut on September 15 in the Tuesday 10 PM slot, behind the season finale of AGT, and air in the 10 PM for three more weeks, with two-hour Voice episodes as lead-in, until it would move to 8 PM on October 13 to make room for returning Chicago Fire at 10 PM
