The Weinstein Co. Ups Patrick Reardon To EVP Television

The Weinstein Company has promoted Patrick Reardon to EVP in the company’s television department. Reardon joined TWC in 2013 as a SVP and Head of Unscripted. His promotion reflects expanded responsibilities of solely overseeing the company’s unscripted TV operations following last fall’s departure of Weinstein TV head Meryl Poster, to whom he used to report. The Weinstein Co. has opted not to replace her, instead elevating Reardon, a strategy the company also has used for other recent executive departures. There is no similar move planned for now on the scripted TV side, where the company’s team includes Mark Velez, Megan Spanjian and Melissa Wells.

Reardon oversaw the current season of the Weinstein’s signature reality series, Project Runway, whose premiere on Lifetime last week posted year-to-year growth. Along with VP Television Barbara Schneeweiss, Reardon also is shepherding the latest Runway spinoff, the upcoming Project Runway Jr., which will be hosted by model Hannah Davis and Runway veteran Tim Gunn.

Among Reardon’s goals is broadening Weinstein Co.’s reality programming focus from the core fashion brand to also include talk, comedy, true crime and game show formats. He has set up five new projects in the past five months — two each at Viacom’s MTV and Spike networks and one at NBC.

“Our pride in the company’s television department continues to grow everyday as we look at new opportunities to take part in the great renaissance that TV is experiencing,” TWC Co-Chairmen Harvey and Bob Weinstein said. “Patrick is one of the finest talents in the business, and we are so proud to have him take on an expanded role in guiding the department to an exciting future.”
