‘The Last Ship’ Renewed For Season 3 By TNT

Ahead of the Season 2 finale on September 6, TNT has ordered a 13-episode third season of executive producer Michael Bay’s action-adventure series The Last Ship, for premiere next summer.

Based on William Brinkley’s novel, The Last Ship chronicles a global catastrophe that nearly decimates the world’s population. Because of its positioning, the Navy destroyer USS Nathan James avoided falling victim to the devastating tragedy, forcing Captain Chandler (Eric Dane), XO Slattery (Adam Baldwin) and the ship’s crew to confront the reality of their new existence in a world where they are among the few remaining survivors. Rhona Mitra (Strike Back) also stars.

The Last Ship launched last year as basic cable’s No. 1 new series with total viewers and adults 25-54. In its second season, the show is basic cable’s top scripted series this summer with adults 25-54, according to the network. This summer, the show is reaching an average of 9 million viewers across TNT’s linear, VOD, digital and mobile platforms, TNT says.
