‘Wet Hot American Summer’ Behind-The-Scenes Docu Lands At Amplify – Trailer

Set photographer Amy Rice shot 25 hours of behind-the-scenes footage of David Wain and Michael Showalter’s 2000 campy camp classic Wet Hot American Summer, capturing pretty cool impressions by then-rookie actors like Bradley Cooper, Paul Rudd, Christopher Meloni and Amy Poehler. The result is the docu Hurricane Of Fun: The Making Of Wet Hot, a pic to which Amplify Releasinng just nabbed worldwide rights. It bows on iTunes and other digital platforms beginning today.

The low-budget indie comedy, the first film for both Wain and Showalter, was mostly cast with their friends. Those friends just happen to be the likes of Cooper, Rudd, Meloni, Poehler, Elizabeth Banks, Michael Ian Black, Ken Marino, Janeane Garofalo, Molly Shannon, Joe Lo Truglio, Marguerite Moreau, David Hyde Pierce, A.D. Miles, Zak Orth and Marisa Ryan. Rice also went on to a successful career, twice Emmy-nominated for hemling HBO’s By The People: The Election Of Barack Obama.

Netflix used the original film to springboard a sequel series with the same cast, Wet Hot American Summer: First Day At Camp, which just bowed on the streaming service.

Chief creative officer Dylan Marchetti made the deal for Amplify with producer Jack Turner of Matador. Turner produced, and Wain, Howard Bernstein, Jay Peterson and Todd Lubin executive produced.
