‘Everest’ Imax Trailer: Chilling New Peek At Epic Mountain Climbing Drama

The first trailer for Baltasar Kormákur’s adventure thriller Everest dropped back in June. That one introduced us to the main climbers as they set out to conquer the world’s highest mountain, “without doubt the most dangerous place on Earth,” Jason Clarke’s Rob Hall character says in the new trailer above. This one being the Imax version, it highlights the epic scope of the movie. I saw the 3D film at CineEurope in Barcelona in June and can attest to the grand, sweeping scale of the picture that’s also packed with edge-of-your-seat drama.

Film festival audiences will get their first look at Everest when it opens Venice in its world premiere on September 2. Based on the true story of a 1996 hiking expedition that turned tragic when a sudden storm hit, it stars Clarke along with Josh Brolin, John Hawkes, Robin Wright, Michael Kelly, Sam Worthington, Keira Knightley, Emily Watson and Jake Gyllenhaal.

Universal begins international rollout on September 17. It’s produced by Working Title’s Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner, Cross Creek Pictures’ Brian Oliver and Tyler Thompson, and Nicky Kentish Barnes and Kormákur. William Nicholson and Simon Beaufoy wrote the script.
