‘Bachelor In Paradise’ Ratings Return Down, ‘Big Brother’ Steady

The Bachelorette is over for this season but the search for love continued on ABC last night – though the attraction might be waning. On a night of few originals, Bachelor In Paradise (1.1/4) returned for its second-season debut Sunday with a double-digit drop. The two-hour Bachelor and Bachelorette spinoff was down 21% among adults 18-49 from its Season 1 premiere of August 4 last year, which was a much more competitive Monday. Back in Mexico again — though this time in a resort near the town of Sayulita — Bachelor In Paradise will shift to its regular Monday slot tonight to conclude its two-night season debut.

Even with a 5% dip from its July 26 offering, the highest-rated show of the night was Big Brother (1.8/7). CBS’ only original of the night, it came in second behind a 60 Minutes repeat in overall viewership with 6.26 million, compared with the news mag’s 8.30 million. With NBC, Fox and The CW all encores or local programming, the only other new show last night was ABC’s Save My Life: Boston Trauma (0.8/3). The medical docu series was down 11% from last week. NBC slotted in a repeat of the America’s Got Talent (0.6/3) 10th anniversary special to fill the hole left by the now cancelled Welcome To Sweden. The encore was up over 100% what back-to-back episodes of the shuttered comedy delivered last week.

ABC and CBS were tied for the top demo spot with a 0.9/3 rating, while the latter won the viewership race with 5.41 million watching.
