Robert Rodriguez gave some broad strokes in regards to Demi Lovato’s upcoming role on the second season of his El Rey vampire series From Dusk Till Dawn. “I’ve known her since she read for Spy Kids 3,” said Rodriguez about his longstanding relationship with Lovato. “She’s going to be a badass.” Rodriguez explained that the pop star found a hole in her schedule and will appear toward the end of Season 2 in an episode that “I made sure I was going to direct” said the director.
In addition, Rodriguez announced that his helmer chat series The Director’s Chair returns August 9 on El Rey with special guest, Collateral director Michael Mann. Rodriguez called the talk series one that “demystifies the creative process. It’s a platform for them to talk about how they use film, but also to set the record straight.” Mann’s 1980s cop series Miami Vice is already airing on El Rey. On August 30, The Director’s Chair will spotlight Mad Max director George Miller. Rodriguez also mentioned at TCA that he recently finished an episode with Sylvester Stallone.
