Wyatt Cenac, Alice Wetterlund, Luka Jones, Brian Huskey & More Join TBS’ ‘The Group’

TBS has set the cast for its ensemble alien abduction comedy pilot The Group from The Office creator Greg Daniels, Conaco and Warner Horizon Television. The pilot, which is currently using The Group as its working title, was announced at the Turner upfront back in May.

Former Daily Show correspondent and writer Wyatt Cenac will play Wyatt Jones, a serious journalist in the town of Beacon who is pulled into covering the alien abductions that have been occurring. Cenac is repped by UTA and Avalon Management.

Alice Wetterlund will portray Kelly Grady, a goofy attractive girl who works as a temp and perpetually dates jerks. She is repped by APA, 3 Arts and attorney Lev Ginsburg.

As Gerry Johnson, Luka Jones is a social dropout and tollbooth worker who knows a lot about aliens. His reps are UTA and 3 Arts.

Tracee Chimo is set to portray Chelsea Healey, a high-strung soul in the body of a housewife who is masking something much darker. Chimo is a client of Innovative Artists and Lasher Group.

Playing hip priest Father Doug is Oscar Nunez. Father Doug manages the community room rentals at Our Lady of Sorrows in Beacon. Nunez is repped by Stone Manners Salners and Omnipop.

Da’Vine Joy Randolph‘s Yvonne Watson is the best door-to-door cosmetic salesperson on the Eastern seaboard in The Group. Randolph is represented by Paradigm and Lighthouse Entertainment.

Marylouise Burke portrays Margaret Flood, the sex-crazed retiree in Beacon’s retirement community. Burke is a client of BRS/Gage.

In addition, Deadline has exclusively learned that Brian Huskey (Comedy Central’s Another Period, star of Matt Walsh’s A Better You) will be guest-starring as Richard Shenk in the pilot; a newly promoted executive of a “tech company” who has all the charisma of a manila envelope and fervently believes that his wife was “taken” by “aliens.” Huskey is represented by Principato-Young Entertainment and Abrams Artists Agency.

As announced minutes ago by Deadline, former Saturday Night Live alum Ana Gasteyer is playing Gina Morrison, a disgraced, though, competent therapist who runs a support group for alien abductees while working part time at a home furnishing chain store. Gasteyer is repped by Gersh and Circle of Confusion.

Jeff Ross,  David Kissinger, Dan Halsted are EPs along with Conan O’Brien and Daniels on the David Jenkins scripted pilot. Jenkins is also co-EP.
