Michael B. Jordan has been cast in Broad Green Pictures’ adaptation of Just Mercy: A Story Of Justice and Redemption, the best-selling memoir by author Bryan Stevenson. Like the book, the film will recount renowned civil rights defense attorney Stevenson as fought to free a condemned death row prisoner. The true story is one of redemption, passion and mercy set contrasted against a corrupt judicial system that favors the death penalty and unfairly targets the poor. Jordan will star as Stevenson.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton from a script Cretton wrote with Andrew Lanham, Just Mercy will be produced by Gil Netter. Michael B. Jordan, Bryan Stevenson, and Arthur Spector will executive produce with Broad Green Pictures in association with Gil Netter Productions. Victor Moyers and Asher Goldstein will oversee the project at Broad Green Pictures.

Greg Kinnear and Jennifer Ehle have been tapped to appear in the upcoming untitled new feature from Love Is Strange director Ira Sachs. Formerly called The Silent Treatment, the untitled film will follow two young best friends whose bond is tested by as parents’ battle over a dress shop lease. As the disagreement escalates, the pair decide to stop talking to their parents entirely until it ends. Kinnear and Ehle will play a married couple who inherit a Brooklyn home directly above the dress shop; Paulina Garcia portrays the single mother who runs the shop. Newcomers Theo Taplitz and Michael Barbieri will play the young friends.
The film is intended to be the third installment in a thematic trilogy of films about New York city life, family, and real estate. Keep The Lights On And Love Is Strange make up first and second parts. Also starring in the film are Alfred Molina, Talia Balsam, Andy Carl, David Krumholtz, Yolanda Ross, and Stell Schnabel. The script is a collaboration between Sachs and Mauricio Zacharias, their third such effort. The untitled film is produced by Sachs, Lucas Joaquin, Christos Konstantakopoulos, Jim Landé, and Laura Teodosio in association with Faliro House, Parts & Labor, Race Point Films, Raptor Films, RT Features, and Water’s End Productions. The film will shoot on location in Manhattan and Brooklyn.
