Author John Green Seals First-Look Deal With Fox 2000

BREAKING: After proving himself to be as much a bankable brand as any actor to the young adult moviegoing set, The Fault In Our Stars and Paper Towns author John Green has been given a first-look producing deal by Fox 2000 Pictures President Elizabeth Gabler. This is a smart move, since the author’s name aptly corresponds to how strongly young people respond to his fiction. Consider that the $12 million The Fault in Our Stars grossed more than $304 million worldwide and the upcoming Paper Towns is tracking very strongly. I went to the Fault premiere in New York, and children carried copies of that book all over the premiere party. Despite the presence of the young castmembers Shailene Woodley, Ansel Elgort and Nat Wolff, Green was the person they sought out, and the real rock star in the room.

“We are elated to expand upon our already extraordinary relationship with John and feel honored to be able to enhance our creative horizons together,” said Gabler. “He is truly a force of nature, and we are proud to be part of his world.”

Green will collaborate with Temple Hill Entertainment principals Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bowen, who produced both of Green’s movie adaptations as well his the percolating adaptation of his novel Looking For Alaska, which Paramount has on a fast track. Green, a producer on Fox’s Paper Towns, is repped by Writers House and UTA.
