Endemol Shine North America

EXCLUSIVE: Chalk up another remake for a Scandinavian drama series. After what I heard was a very competitive bidding battle among more than a dozen contenders, Endemol Shine Studios has acquired English-language rights to Follow The Money, a Danish investigative thriller set in the world of economic crime. Anonymous Content is on board produce the redo of the series. Danish Radio Corporation, producer of The Killing, Legacy and Borgen, is prepping the 10-episode first season, which is set to premiere in January. The company also will do a second season that’s planned for an October bow on that side of the Atlantic. Richard Brown (True Detective) and ex-CBS Films President Wolfgang Hammer are EP-ing the US version.

“This is yet another compelling series from Danish Radio Corporation, and we’re looking forward to developing it for the American audience in partnership with the very talented team at Anonymous Content,” Charlie Corwin, Co-Chairman and Co-CEO of Endemol Shine North America, said Monday of the series with multiple converging story lines. “All of us at Anonymous and our partners at Endemol Shine Studios are very excited to have the opportunity to adapt the brilliant Follow The Money as a U.S. series,” added Anonymous’ Richard Brown today. “The possibilities to explore economic crime and its consequences in the form of an investigative thriller are extremely rich and compelling.”

The original series was created by Jeppe Gjervig Gram, directed by Per Fly, produced by Anders Toft Andersen and executive produced by Piv Bernth. Anonymous Content’s recent series include True Detective, The Knick, Mr. Robot, Quarry and the upcoming Berlin Station, The OA and The Alienist. Endemol Shine Studios, the scripted division of Endemol Shine North America, is behind such series as Hell On Wheels, which just had its Season 5 debut on July 18, Kingdom and HBO’s upcoming Utopia.
