Keshet To Open U.S. Scripted Outpost Headed By Peter Traugott

Keshet International, the global distribution and production arm of Keshet Media Group, the powerhouse Israeli indie producer behind Homeland, is opening a U.S.-based scripted studio that will be led by Peter Traugott, who has been named Keshet Studios’ president of scripted. This marks Traugott’s return to the top position at an established production company; he previously headed Brillstein Entertainment Partner’s TV unit as president.

Traugott and producing partner Rachel Kaplan most recently ran their TBD Productions banner, which has been under an overall deal at Universal TV. Kaplan will follow him to Keshet Studios where she will serve as EVP. The two will report to Alon Shtruzman, CEO, Keshet International.

“Keshet Studios was a natural progression for our expanding business and we are thrilled to have an official home base in the States with executives who share our programming sensibility,” said Shtruzman. “Peter and Rachel both have tremendous instincts for developing and producing compelling and innovative scripted television.”

Traugott and Kaplan will join Atar Dekel, Keshet Studios’ Head of Business Development, and also will work closely with Shtruzman as well as Avi Nir, CEO of Keshet Media Group, who developed the company’s US business over the past decade.

Keshet Studios will have access to KI’s catalogue of over 30 scripted formats as well as future scripted formats to adapt for U.S. audiences. KI’s catalogue includes Prisoners of War, the Israeli format, on which Showtime’s Homeland was based, and comedy Traffic Light, which was adapted in the U.S. by Fox. Additionally, Traugott and Kaplan will work to create new scripted formats for the international marketplace. Keshet Studios launches with a number of  projects in various stages of development.

Keshet Studios joins Keshet DCP, the company’s unscripted U.S. venture with dick clark productions, which has produced such series based on Keshet formats as Rising Star and BOOM!.

Keshet Studios is repped by WME’s Rick Rosen and Marc Korman in the U.S.
