‘Manhattan’ Season 2 Gets Premiere Date On WGN America

Season 2 of WGN America’s drama about the best and brightest who came together to create the world’s first nuclear weapon has a premiere date. The sophomore session of Manhattan, which was ordered in October, will bow Tuesday, October 13, at 9 PM. The network also released the first images of the upcoming episodes, which will focus on the events leading up to Trinity test: the first detonation of an atomic weapon, which happened 70 years ago this week.

Set at “The Hill” in the remote New Mexico desert during World War II, the series centers on Frank Manhattan Season 2Winter (John Benjamin Hickey), the brilliant physicist who designed the A-bomb and is torn about how it might be used. Meanwhile, his botanist wife (Olivia Williams) battles with the top-secret compound’s new commanding officer (William Petersen) as a young couple (Ashley Zukerman and Rachel Brosnahan) embraces and struggles with their unexpected new power on the Hill. The ensemble cast also includes Harry Lloyd, Katja Herbers, Christopher Denham, Michael Chernus, Harry Lloyd, Mamie Gummer and Griffin Dunne.

Manhattan comes from creator-writer Sam Shaw and director Thomas Schlamme, who also exec produce with Dustin Thomason, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Marcy Ross. The series is produced by Lionsgate Television, Skydance Television and Tribune Studios.
