NBC Dumps ‘Hannibal’ & ‘Aquarius’ To Saturdays

So much for summer programming being where the living’s easy: At NBC, cancelled and renewed shows are getting the same treatment. The network today kneecapped its Thursday duo of recently cancelled Hannibal (not surprising) and the just-renewed Aquarius (much more surprising) and put them on Saturday night, owing to poor ratings.

Beginning this week, Dateline Thursday Mysteries will air from 9-11 PM on Thursdays. On Saturday, Aquarius will air from 9-10 and Hannibal from 10-11 PM.

Aquarius - Season 1The move comes after Aquarius saw a 25% rise in the adults 18-49 demographic in its last airing of July 9. Still, it only gave the David Duchovny-starring series a 0.5 rating. NBC had taken the tactic of putting all of Aquarius online soon after its debut. The network claims the show has been a big digital draw ,which maybe is where it is finding its audience. As for the long-low-rated Hannibal, it must really not like Mondays as that was the day the three-season show was cancelled, the day that EP Bryan Fuller said the show wasn’t getting a new life on Amazon (or Netflix) and, now the cannibal series — which matched a series-low 0.4 last week — is shuffling off to the TV graveyard.
