Fandango To Mark Biggest Month For Ticket Sales In Company’s History

How do you high-five a T-Rex? Fandango is on track to have the best month in its company’s 15-year history, selling the most tickets ever as Universal’s Jurassic World, Disney/Pixar’s Inside Out and Ted 2 are racking up ticket sales. This could also be the first week that three pictures make over $50M in one weekend.

The landmark for Fandango is expected to be reached tomorrow. This news is certainly the bellwether for the robust health of the movie and exhibition industry. So you gotta ask, will June 2015 be one of the largest month’s ever for moviegoing in Hollywood? Not sure, but we have one weekend to go and it starts tonight in previews with Ted 2.

June 2015 set to eclipse Fandango’s previous best-selling month, November 2013 when The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, Frozen, Thor: The Dark World, and The Best Man Holiday were released.

Meanwhile, Universal Pictures’ Ted 2 is currently outselling the first Ted at the same point in the movie’s sales cycle. Ted opened June 29, 2012 to $54.4M and went onto gross $549.3M worldwide. Ted 2 is the top-selling R-rated comedy so far this year. Also, interesting to note is that Inside Out is so far Pixar’s best-selling second weekend on record.
