Another SAG-AFTRA Election Without A Membership Vote

In another blow to union democracy, the results of the latest SAG-AFTRA local election are in. This time it’s the Arizona-Utah local – and once again, all the candidates have been “elected,” the union says, “without the necessity of a membership vote.” Joe Corcoran, running unopposed, was re-elected president of the local. Two other officers, five local board members and three convention delegates also ran unopposed and were deemed “elected without the necessity of a membership vote.”

Similar SAG-AFTRA elections, also conducted without a membership vote, recently were conducted in Hawaii and the Missouri Valley.
