Amazon’s ‘Catastrophe’ Pilot Previewing On Facebook Ahead Of Series Launch

Amazon’s upcoming comedy series Catastrophe, from creators-stars Sharon Horgan and Rob Delaney, has friended Facebook. The pilot is set to preview starting Monday on the social network, ahead of the six-episode first season hitting Amazon Prime on June 19. The episode will be up for 48 hours starting at 4 PM PT.

A British import who second season already has been renewed on Channel 4 over there, Catastrophe finds an American (Delaney) hooking up with Irish woman (Horgan) during his business trip to London. But as the trailer below notes, she calls him later and says, “We had sex like 25 times in a week, and you wore a condom maybe twice.” Uh-oh, plot complication. Yes, she’s pregnant, and now the two struggle to start a relationship.

So he decides to move to London to become the father he never had, while she questions whether this will be her last chance at motherhood. Carrie Fisher co-stars as his eccentric Bostonian mom, and Ashley Jensen is Horgan’s rather unpleasant friend. The series from Avalon Television is co-produced by Birdbath and Merman.

Horgan is the writer and EP on HBO’s upcoming Sarah Jessica Parker series Divorce. She entered into a joint venture with Aaron Kaplan last year after their five-year collaboration resulted in four pilots at major broadcast networks. She also is producing a project at E! with Irish writer Paul Howard. Delaney’s acting credits include Key & Peele, Burning Love and The Michael J. Fox Show. He also had a book published in December.
