ABC Family Greenlights Drama Pilot ‘Stay’

ABC Family has picked up Stay, a thriller drama pilot directed by Jon Turteltaub (National Treasure). It is the third pilot ordered in the past two months by ABC Family as the network is looking to double its original programming over the next four years, joining comedy Gorgeous Morons and supernatural drama Beyond.

Described as an edge-of-your-seat thriller, Stay centers on a recently widowed police detective and his two daughters who are stranded at a foreboding hotel and must unravel the hotel’s mysteries to escape. Turteltaub will direct from a script by Spenser Cohen. The two will executive produce with Anna Halberg.

Stay is an emotionally-powerful story about a fractured family, who comes back together under the most unexpected of circumstances,” said Karey Burke, EVP, Programming and Development, ABC Family.

In TV, Turteltaub most recently directed CBS’ Rush Hour pilot, which was picked up to series for mid-season.
