Christina Applegate Joins Dark Comedy ‘Youth In Oregon’; ‘Northmen’ Invasion Set For July

EXCLUSIVE: After Christina Applegate takes goes on Vacation with Ed Helms this summer, she’ll be taking a trip to Youth In Oregon. The actress has signed on for the dark comedy about a cantankerous old man (Frank Langella) being driven cross-country by his son-in-law (Billy Crudup), who is trying to talk the older man out of getting legally euthanized there. Applegate will play Kate Ingersol, the respective daughter and wife of the pair who has, by default, become her father’s keeper. She is the matriarchal linchpin of the family who, unable to take care of everyone all the time, is forced to rely on her husband to save her father — whether he wants to or not. Applegate most recently co-starred in Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues and had a voice role in The Book Of Life. She also starred with Will Arnett in the NBC sitcom Up All Night. She is repped by CAA, Management 360 and Hansen Jacobson.

NorthmenAnchor Bay will open the Nordic tale Northmen: A Viking Saga in theaters on July 31, day-and-date with its release on Starz Digital. The action-adventure pic follows a gang of Viking marauders who are shipwrecked off the coast of Scotland, the only part of Britain without any Viking settlements. They must journey to the safety of the Viking stronghold Danelag — with the Wolf Pack, the Scottish king’s ruthless mercenaries, hot on their trail. Tom Hopper, Ryan Kwanten, Ken Duken, Charlie Murphy, James Norton, Ed Skrein, Anatole Taubman and Johan Hegg star in director Claudio Fäh’s film, which will get a home video and VOD release on August 11. Starz acquired all U.S. rights to Northmen in October.
