John Noble To Play Sherlock Holmes’ Dad In ‘Elementary’

Fringe alum John Noble has joined the cast of CBS drama Elementary as a series regular for the upcoming fourth season, playing Sherlock Holmes’ wealthy, estranged father.

The character has been referenced in past seasons as being instrumental in Sherlock’s first stint in rehab three years ago and in pairing his son with Joan Watson, his former sober companion, now his current investigative partner and friend. In the Season 4 premiere, Mr. Holmes arrives in New York City to deal with the aftermath of his son’s recent relapse.

In addition to series regular roles on Fringe and Sleepy Hollow, Noble had guest-starring turns in The Good Wife, Forever and 24. His feature film credits include Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers and The Return Of The King, and  M. Night Shyamalan’s The Last Airbender.
