‘Of Kings and Prophets’ Pulled From ABC Fall Schedule, ‘Quantico’ Goes To Sunday

UPDATED: ABC is making a change in its Sunday fall lineup. Biblical saga Of Kings and Prophets is coming off as the project is set to undergo retooling, including casting changes. In another setback for the costume drama, I hear its order has been cut from 13 to 10 episodes. UPDATE: I hear getting recast is the role of Joab, played in the pilot by Tomer Kapon, with another possible but not locked in change for the role of Merav, played by Alex McGregor.

Of Kings and Prophets received mixed reactions at the upfront, and it was a late delivery, with the completed pilot not screened before the network set its fall 2015 schedule. ABC had had big plans for the drama, which hired a showrunner and set up a writers room with an eye toward a series order ahead of the network’s May pickups, but the network brass appear to be cooling off on the show whose future is now in jeopardy. (Last year, Fox moved in to scrap its Ancient Egypt drama Hieroglyph after a lukewarm reception of the pilot at the upfronts.)

A well received by advertisers new drama, Quantico, currently slated for the Tuesday 10 PM slot, is moving to Sunday 10 PM, joining Once Upon a Time and fellow new drama Blood & Oil. Which show will succeed Quantico in the Tuesday 10 PM slot this fall is still TBD. Maybe we can get cancelled freshman Forever back…

ABC has been very aggressive in making casting changes on its newly picked up drama series, with a number of shows, including Blood & Oil, The CatchQuantico, Wicked City and now Of Kings and Prophets, undergoing recastings.

Quantico, starring Priyanka Chopra, revolves around a diverse group of recruits at the FBI Quantico Base, one of whom is suspected of masterminding the biggest attack on New York City since 9/11. The series, created by Josh Safran, hails from ABC Studios and the Mark Gordon Co.
