EXCLUSIVE: Lotus Entertainment has acquired and will finance the comedy spec Parents Weekend from screenwriter Peter Scott, an expected R-rated comedy about a couple who take advantage of their freshman son’s parents weekend to have the college experience they never had while visiting him.
The feature will be produced by Film 360’s Daniel Rappaport and Ben Forkner with Industry Entertainment’s Andrew Deane and Michael Botti. Scott is the author of two comedic books told from the male perspective — Well Groomed and There’s A Spouse In My House: A Humorous Journey Through The First Years Of Marriage.
Will Speck and Josh Gordon will executive produce. Lotus will sell foreign with Jim Seibel and Bill Johnson executive producing with Ara Keshishian, who will oversee production for Lotus.
Parents Weekend joins a Lotus Entertainment slate that includes The Kaiser’s Last Kiss starring Lily James and Christopher Plummer; Tom Tykwer’s A Hologram For A King starring Tom Hanks; Scott Hicks’ Fallen; November Criminals with Chloë Grace Moretz and Ansel Elgort; Tanya Wexler’s Replicas starring Keanu Reeves; Kidnap starring Halle Berry; and Shekhar Kapur’s epic adventure Tiger’s Curse, based on the first in a series of best-selling novels.
Scott is repped by Gersh, Industry and Behr Abramson Levy.
