Portia de Rossi Bumped To Series Regular For Next Season Of ‘Scandal’

Following the events of the season finale (we’ll avoid spoiling them here), Portia de Rossi has been promoted to series regular for the 2015-16 season of ABC’s Scandal, the actress has confirmed today. On Twitter, she thanked the network and show, saying “Thank you @ScandalABC I can’t wait to start season 5!!”

de Rossi joined Scandal in a recurring role during the 2014-15 season, playing Elizabeth North, the scheming chair of the Republican National Committee . Over the course of the season, North becomes First Lady Mellie Grant’s campaign chairperson during Grant’s run for the US Senate. Scandal was renewed for a 5th season on May 8.
