Sci-Fi Drama Series ‘Humans’ To Premiere In June On AMC

AMC has slated its new eight-part sci-fi drama series Humans to premiere Sunday, June 28 at 9 PM. The network today also released new key art featuring star Gemma Chan (see above), and an expanded first-look clip (below).

Set in suburban London, Humans takes place in a parallel present where the latest must-have gadget for any busy family is a ‘Synth’ – a highly developed, artificially intelligent servant eerily similar to its living counterpart. An adaptation of Swedish series Real Humans penned by Brit writing partners Sam Vincent and Jonathan Brackley, the series explores the emotional impact that comes as the lines between humans and machines become increasingly blurred.

In addition to Chan, Humans stars William Hurt, Katherine Parkinson, Tom Goodman-Hill, Lucy Carless, Colin Morgan, Pixie Davis, Ivanno Jeremiah, Theo Stevenson, Emily Berrington, Neil Maskell, Will Tudor, Rebecca Front, Danny Webb and Sope Dirisu.

Humans is produced by Kudos in association with Matador Films. Sam Donovan directs. Jane Featherstone and Derek Wax executive produce for Kudos, with Chris Fry producing for Kudos and Henrik Widman and Lars Lundström for Matador Films. The series was commissioned for Channel 4 by Piers Wenger, Beth Willis and Simon Maxwell, and Kristin Jones and Joel Stillerman for AMC. Endemol Shine International will handle distribution.
