CBS Narrows Pilot Field: Update

UPDATE SATURDAY AM: I hear that, despite not getting a series pickup, legal drama pilot Doubt may still be in contention with a possibility for reshooting the pilot. On the comedy side, multi-camera The Half of It still appears in the running, possibly for midseason.

FRIDAY AM: With ABC and the CW done with their new series orders and NBC and Fox in the final stages, the focus shifts to CBS, which had started making pickups on the Friday before upfronts the past couple of years.

I hear several pilots are no longer in the running, including Tommy Johnagin, Dan O’Shannon, Bill Wrubel and possibly Taxi-22. Looking very much in contention are frontrunners Life In Pieces, Angel From Hell and The Half Of It, with the first two particularly strong. (I don’t have a good read on high-concept Super Clyde, which stayed under the radar but comes from top CBS Studios showrunner Greg Garcia)

On the drama side, I hear LFE, Doubt and For Justice fading. Sneaky Pete appears to be a wild card. The Sony TV-produced project, which has a big penalty, may play a part in the talks between the studio and CBS on bubble freshman drama Battle Creek, with one of them possibly making it. CBS already picked up one drama pilot, Supergirl, to series.
