Nu Image Invites ‘Leatherface’ To Cannes Market
A familiar face will be stalking the Croisette this month, but he’s not someone you’d want to have drinks at the Carlton with. Nu Image has added to its Cannes sales slate Leatherface, Millennium Films’ prequel to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Directors Alexandre Bustillo & Julien Maury start production this month in Bulgaria on horror pic Leatherface, which stars Stephen Dorff and Lili Taylor. It’s an origins story about the violent teenager who grows up to be the sadistic monster who’s been scaring film audiences for decades. Seth M. Sherwood wrote the script.
Meanwhile, Hannibal Classics will hit the Riviera with a pair of action-thrillers: Bus 657, starring Robert De Niro and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and I Am Wrath (right), toplining John Travolta. Scott Mann helmed Emmett/Furla Films’ Bus 657, about a father without the means to pay for his daughter’s medical treatment who partners with a greedy co-worker to rob a casino. Things go awry after they hijack a bus full of hostages. Chuck Russell directed Patriot Pictures’ I Am Wrath, about a guy seeking justice after a group of corrupt police officers are unable to catch his wife’s killer. Both pics are in postproduction.
