Byron Mann (The Man With The Iron Fists, Rise Of The Legend) has joined the cast of AMC’s Hell On Wheels as a series regular. Mann will play Chang, a powerful businessman and main Chinese labor contractor vying for power in the building of the Central Pacific Railroad. Chang controls the flow of Chinese workers along with their specialized food and sundries, which has allowed him to build a small empire in Truckee’s Chinatown.
Hell On Wheels began production on its 14-episode fifth and final season last week, with seven new episodes set to premiere this summer and the final seven episodes of the series following in the summer of 2016.
Mann has closed a deal for a role opposite Brad Pitt, Christian Bale, Steve Carell and Ryan Gosling in Adam McKay’s The Big Short. He most recently appeared in indie Jasmine, which premiered at the Hong Kong International Film Festival, and will next be seen in the upcoming Lionsgate actioner Absolution alongside Steven Seagal and Vinnie Jones. Mann’s other credits include features Cold War, The Corruptor, and Red Corner, and The CW’s Arrow. He is repped by Sovereign Talent Group, Echelon Talent Management, and attorney Eric J. Feig.
