‘Fresh Off The Boat’ Ratings Even In Finale, ‘Weird Loners’, ‘Chicago Fire’ & ‘CSI Cyber’ Down, ‘Forever’ Rises

After a debut season that saw the sitcom repeatedly trashed by the man on whose memoir it’s based, Fresh Off The Boat (1.5/5) wrapped up its first run last night. There was some assimilation anxiety and some Pet Shop Boys on Tuesday in the 13th episode of the mid-1990s set comedy about a Taiwanese-American family that move from D.C. to Orlando. There was also a little bit more of the same among adults 18-49.

While down 40% in the demo from its 8:30 PM February 4 debut and off 11% from its Tuesday 8 PM premiere of February 10, last night’s FOTB was even with the final ratings of last week. The April 14 FOTB actually inched up from a tenth from its fast nationals results so we may see such an adjustment later here too. Despite chef Eddie Huang’s expressed issues with the show inspired by his 2013 book, FOTB has consistently performed well enough to likely be renewed by ABC for a second cycle.

Tuesday’s FOTB result was a good platform for the finale of fellow freshman Repeat After Me (1.1/4). The Ellen DeGeneres EP’d hidden camera show rose 10% among the 18-49s to its best result in over a month. Compared to its February 17 debut, RAE was down 21% among the demo. The rest of ABC’s night saw Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. (1.5/5) dip 6% from last week and Forever (1.0/3) rise 11% from its April 14 show.

The top rated and most watched show of the night, The Voice (2.5/9) was even with last week in the demo and saw a small 3% rise in viewers to 10.00 million. While One Big Happy (1.1/3) held on to last week’s results, which were a low by the way, Undateable (1.3/4) and Chicago Fire (1.6/5) both took double-digit whacks to fall 13% and 20% respectively. In the case of the Dick Wolf produced series, that drop is from the show’s last original of April 7. Overall NBC won the night among the 18-49s with a 1.8/6 rating.

Over on CBS, ratings gravity also kicked in for a special CSI Cyber (1.2/4), the net’s only original of the night. Shifted into Person Of Interest’s 10 PM slot on Tuesday, the latest franchise spinoff was down 20% from POI’s result last week. CSI Cyber was also down the same amount from its own regular Wednesday 10 PM spot of April 15 to hit a low in preliminary numbers. Still, with NCIS (1.0/3) and NCIS: New Orleans (1.1/3) encores dominating the night, CBS took the viewership top spot with 9.44 million watching.

With baseball preemptions in Chicago, The CW’s results are likely inflated but as they stand now The Flash (1.2/4) was down 14% to a fast nationals low and midseason replacement iZombie (0.7/2) stumbled 13% from its April 14 show. Fox’s Hell’s Kitchen (1.1/4) was also down from last week, in this case 15%. Four weeks in, the network’s Weird Loners (0.5/2) took a troubling hit of tenth from last week’s ratings red alert level. Far behind fellow freshman comedy One Big Happy on NBC at 9:30 PM, Weird Loners is definitely on the to-be-yanked watch now.
