Spanish-language cable net NBC Universo has hired TV industry vet Bilai Joa Silar as Senior Vice President, Programming and Production, starting April 27. She will report to Rubén Mendiola, President, NBC Universo. In her new role, Silar will lead the development and execution of the network’s programming strategy and drive content acquisition, development and production for the channel. In addition, she will align with NBCUniversal’s Hispanic Enterprise and Content, as well as NBCUniversal, on strategic programming opportunities.
Silar moves to NBC Universo from Discovery Communications where she most recently served as VP, Content, Discovery U.S. Hispanic Networks.
