Cheeky ‘Hand to God’ Playwright Teases With ‘Permission’ In Spanking New Trailer

EXCLUSIVE: Here’s the teaser that MCC Theater will use to promote Permission, the latest play from very-bad-boy writer Robert Askins, whose Hand To God just opened on Broadway to raves from everyone, including me, but not Rex Reed.

The new play is about spanking, and pairs Hangover star Justin Bartha with Elizabeth Reaser, who starred in the Twilight movies and the closing season of Mad Men. The slightly naughty trailer features the pair reading from actual blog posts about the joys of “Christian Domestic Discipline.” Give it a peek.

The show begins previews April 29 at the Lucille Lortel Theatre, with an official opening night on May 20. Nicole Lowrance, Talene Monahon and Lucas Near-Verbrugghe complete the cast. The director is Alex Timbers (Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, Rocky The Musical).

Take a look at what Askins hath wrought and let us know what you think. Are you going to check out his latest provocation when it arrives next month?
