Gulfstream Pictures Inks Deal With Warner Bros Television

Warner Bros-based Gulfstream Pictures is making a formal foray into TV with the launch of Gulfstream Television, which has inked a two-year overall deal with Warner Bros. TV.

Mike KarzBill BindleyGulfstream Television will be run by Gulfstream Pictures principals Mike Karz and Bill Bindley, who are planning to bring in a senior-level TV executive. Under the deal, the company will develop and produce TV projects for network, cable and digital.

The pact with WBTV expands film Gulfstream Pictures’ relationship with Warner Bros. where the film production and financing company has been based since 2012 with a two-year first-look deal that was renewed last year. It also formalizes an existing collaboration between Gulfstream Pictures and Warner Bros’ television studio, where the company set up and produces several scripts over the past couple of years, developing a rapport with WBTV’s development executives. Karz has TV background; he co-created and executive produced the 2002 reality series The Jamie Kennedy Experiment.

Warner Bros TVOn the feature side, Gulfstream most recently produced Blended with Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore for Warners. Gulfstream’s first animated production, The Nut Job, grossed nearly $120 million in global box office, triggering a sequel, now in production. The company’s upcoming film projects for Warners include King David, based on Rabbi David Wolpe’s recent book David: The Divided Heart, which is being written by Nick Schoenfeld, and the action adventure Antarctica, penned by Michael Werwie.
