HBO Says It’s Pay-Up Time For Web Fan Who Lobbied For Streaming Service

Remember Jake Caputo, the HBO fan who was so eager to buy the service without a pay TV subscription that he launched a website to lobby for a change: “We pirate Game of Thrones, we use our friend’s HBOGO login to watch True Blood…Please HBO, offer a standalone HBOGO streaming service and Take My Money!,” the web designer said on his site in 2012.

The premium network remembers, and decided to have some fun with him after granting his wish with the launch of its streaming service, HBO Now. Yesterday it became available on Apple TV, as well as Cablevision’s Optimum broadband service for $14.99 a month.

This promotion video tells the story, and is genuinely funny — especially for fans of HBO’s most iconic series. Saying more would spoil the gag.
