Annaleigh Ashford Joins CBS Pilot ‘Super Clyde’; David Del Rio In ‘The Half of It’

CBS’ comedy lineup already features one Masters Of Sex standout in Mom star Allison Janney. Now it is looking to add another. Annaleigh Ashford has been cast as a regular in the CBS comedy pilot Super Clyde. The single-camera Greg Garcia project, from CBS TV Studios, follows Clyde (Charlie McDermott), a meek, unassuming fast-food worker who decides to become a superhero. Ashford will play Britney, the high school sweetheart of Clyde’s older brother Duke who dumped him once she found out he would not be inheriting his uncle’s fortune. Now, Duke is pulling out all the stops to win her back. Ashford started as a recurring on Masters Of Sex, playing prostitute-turned-business-savvy assistant Betty DiMello in the first season. She was promoted to regular at the beginning of Season 2. Ashford will be a regular on both Masters Of Sex and Super Clyde, with the Showtime drama in first position. Ashford, repped by APA and Beth Rosner Management, is an accomplished Broadway performer who was nominated for a Tony for her role in Kinky Boots. She recently completed her Night Of Lost Stars solo cabaret national tour.

David Del Rio (Pitch Perfect) has been cast opposite Jon Dore in The Half Of It, CBS’ multi-camera comedy pilot written/executive produced by Mike Gibbons and directed by James Burrows. The project, from CBS TV Studios, centers on Mike (Dore), a newly divorced dad who revels in the fact that he now gets to keep half his stuff, which is more than he ever had when he was married. Del Rio, repped by APA and Intellectual Artists Management, plays Geoffrey, a hipster with a strong sense of “melting pot of styles” fashion, who frequently operates without a filter and fancies himself a “giver.” Del Rio recently co-starred in the Lionsgate feature Spare Parts and wrapped production on the indie Undrafted.
