Austin Stowell, Ahna O’Reilly Recruited For ‘In Dubious Battle’; Anchor Bay, Gravitas Ink Home Video Deal

Austin Stowell and Ahna O’Reilly have landed roles in James Franco’s John Steinbeck adaptation In Dubious Battle. The story follows an uprising by migrant workers in California’s apple country in the 1930s. Stowell plays Eddie, the younger boss under Robert Duvall’s character. Together, they attempt to negotiate with the strikers. O’Reilly plays Edie, part of a small cog that makes up the American Communist Party. She is tasked with maintaining public perception, financing the movement and seeing the big picture. Franco directs and co-stars in the film, whose ensemble cast includes Nat Wolf, Josh Hutcherson, Ed Harris, Vincent D’Onofrio, Robert Duvall, Selena Gomez and Bryan Cranston.

Repped by CAA and Roar, Stowell stars in the upcoming TNT series Public Morals, and his recent credits include Whiplash, Dolphin Tale 2 and Behind The Candelabra. He next is onscreen in Steven Spielberg’s Bridge Of Spies starring Tom Hanks. O’Reilly’s recent credits include She’s Funny That Way, Get On Up and CBGB. Repped by WME, she next appears in the features No Way Jose and Sleepwalker.

Anchor Bay Entertainment and Gravitas Ventures have singed a three-year deal that gives Anchor Bay North American Blu-ray and DVD distribution rights to 36 titles from Gravitas through 2017. Among the first releases in the 12-titles-a-year pact will be the Manny Pacquiao documentary Manny; Always Woodstock, starring Ryan Guzman, Brittany Snow and Katey Sagal; and Lovesick, starring Matt LeBlanc, Ali Larter and Chevy Chase.
