Prosieben Pacts With NBCU; VIMN’s Kerry Taylor To Rebrand Channel 5: Global Briefs

In a first for ProSiebenSat.1, the station family has entered a content licensing deal with NBCUniversal. The agreement gives ProSiebenSat.1 wide-ranging exclusive linear rights, plus free catch-up rights in Germany to the studio’s new U.S. sitcoms and select drama series. In addition, ProSiebenSat.1 is also taking library titles that include Battlestar Galactica, Kojak and Columbo. The ProSiebenSat.1 Group also has long-term agreements with CBS, Warner Bros, Paramount, Fox, Studiocanal, Constantin Film and Tobis Film.

Viacom International Media Networks has appointed Kerry Taylor as its first ever Chief Marketing Officer out of the UK. Taylor will be charged with overseeing a creative rebranding of Channel 5 during the course of 2015. Viacom acquired the free-to-air broadcaster last year. The company has also appointed MTV UK VP of Marketing and Communications, Jo Bacon, to take on additional responsibility for marketing at Channel 5. Taylor will additionally have marketing oversight of VIMN’s pay TV brands: Comedy Central, MTV, Nickelodeon, Paramount Channel, Spike and BET – in more than 30 countries. She joined VIMN in 2007. Bacon has been with the company since 2012.

FremantleMedia International’s new CEO, Jens Richter, has unveiled a restructure of his senior management team with the aim of strengthening central operations and finance functions and increasing sales focus in emerging markets. Former CFO and Director of Operations, Bob McCourt, is now COO, helping Richter to set and implement FMI’s strategic and commercial direction, and oversee all operational and financial aspects of the distribution business. McCourt’s day-to-day financial responsibilities are taken over by Darren Green who has been promoted from Senior Financial Controller to Financial Director. The news follows the recent appointment of Georgia Brown as SVP Scripted. On the global sales front, Singapore-based Haryaty Rahman has been promoted to SVP, Sales & Distribution Asia. Rahman’s line manager Ganesh Rajaram (EVP, Sales & Distribution, Asia) and Sheila Aguirre (EVP, Content Distribution & Format Sales, Latin America & Hispanic U.S.) will now report directly to Richter. The company is also looking to hire a new senior executive for Central and Eastern Europe.
