Pivot Unveils New Original Series, Sets Season Premiere Dates For Four Series

Participant Media’s Pivot network today unveiled a new slate of original series and announced premiere dates for four series, including Emmy-winning Hit Record On TV with Joseph Gordon-Levitt. At its upfront in NYC, the network announced it has greenlit a new investigative series executive produced by Brian Knappenberger (The Internet’s Own Boy) currently scheduled to premiere Q4 2015; and added projects with Alex Gibney, Wyatt Cenac and Mark Bittman to its development slate. On May 6, Pivot kicks off a new Wednesday night documentary programming block with the TV premiere of Gardeners Of Eden, executive produced by Kristin Davis. It takes viewers to the front lines of the illegal ivory trade where Africa’s elephants are hurtling towards extinction.

Untitled Brian Knappenberger Project is a documentary series that reimagines investigative journalism for the digital age. Executive produced by filmmaker Knappenberger, the series spotlights the untold stories of people who defend human rights and call out institutional failures.Each episode will follow a single story, using a personal point of entry to examine a larger issue. Knappenberger is executive producer for Luminant Media. Jeff Skoll and Christy Spitzer serve as executive producers for Pivot.

The second season of Hit Record On TV with Joseph Gordon-Levitt premieres June 12 at 10 PM. Each weekly episode addresses a theme, around which thousands of writers, musicians, illustrators and animators from all over the world collaborate to create short films, songs, music videos, animation and more. Angry Planet, which follows George Kourounis as he comes face-to-face with the stark effects of the Earth’s evolving climate, premieres Friday, April 17 at 10 PM ET. The first five episodes will air in April, with another five episodes coming in Q4 2015. Alex Bystram and Kim Bondi serve as executive producers for Cineflix. Peter Rowe serves as series producer. Jeff Skoll and Lyle Gamm serve as executive producers for Pivot.

Secret Lives Of Americans debuts Friday, June 12 at 10:3o PM ET. It gives viewers an up-close look at individuals’ lives as they expose powerful secrets to the most important people in their lives. Eli Holzman, Stephen Lambert, and Danny Villa serve as executive producers for All3Media America. John Henshaw also serves as executive producer. Jeff Skoll and Christy Spitzer serve as executive producers for Pivot. The network also set a summer 2015 premiere for its docu-series Human Resources. The second season will see Tom Szaky and team at TerraCycle head to London, deal with puppies, and continue to come up with bigger and better ways of transforming what we consider “waste.” Human Resources is produced by Left/Right.

Pivot’s unscripted projects in development include Untitled Alex Gibney, an investigative food series described as a cross between broadcast journalism and activism; Untitled Wyatt Cenac, which will feature Cenac giving a unique take on topical issues, and Untitled Mark Bittman, a food investigative project that looks at the interconnectedness of our food economy and its effects on real people. Bittman and Jesse Sweet executive produce with Ken Druckerman and Banks Tarver for Left/Right.

Pivot also announced its digital platform TakePart.com is teaming with the National Urban League for an editorial series Save Our Cities in response to the organization’s latest The State Of Black America report. It will detail the people, solutions and ideas that are driving progress in the areas of social justice, employment, housing, health, and education.
