Melissa Leo Joins CBS Pilot ‘LFE’

Oscar- and Emmy-winning actress Melissa Leo (The Fighter, Treme) has joined the cast of CBS medical drama pilot LFE, from the Dan Jinks Co. and CBS TV. Written/co-executive produced by Paul Downs Colaizzo, LFE is described as a high-octane medical procedural revolving around second-year residents at New York City’s top hospital as they attempt to balance their god complexes with their humanity.

Leo will play Julie, an attending physician in the surgical wing and a den mother to the second-year residents. While her attempts to be a part of her own family clan never are fully successful, the young residents, at least, need her guidance in their lives and give her the relationship she wishes she had with her own children.

Leo won a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for The Fighter (2010) and a Best Actress Oscar nom for Frozen River (2008). She also won a guest actress Emmy for Louie (2010). She next will be seen in a starring role on Fox event series Wayward Pines and soon will begin production in Europe on Oliver Stone’s Snowden. She most recently wrapped production on London Has Fallen, the follow-up to Olympus Has Fallen. Leo is repped by CAA and Untitled Entertainment.
