Jerrod Carmichael Comedy Gets Series Order At NBC

NBC has ordered six episodes of the untitled Jerrod Carmichael comedy project. Written by Carmichael and Nick Stoller, the untitled project toplined by Carmichael is described as an irreverent multi-camera comedy inspired by Carmichael’s stand-up and relationships with his girlfriend and family. Stoller is executive producing with Carmichael and A24’s Ravi Nandan.

Getting something going with Carmichael has been a priority for the network. After filming a presentation last season, NBC officially ordered a second off-cycle pilot last fall with a new premise and a new writer/executive producer, Stoller, who directed Carmichael in the feature comedy Neighbors. Mark Cendrowski was tapped to direct the new pilot. Universal TV is the studio.

David Alan Grier, Loretta Devine, and Amber Stevens West round out the cast.

“We’re excited to be going forward to series with Jerrod. We can’t wait to see how he and his outstanding cast deliver the funny,” said Jennifer Salke, President, NBC Entertainment.
