‘Tomorrowland’ First Trailer: George Clooney’s A Disillusioned Former Boy-Genius On A Mission

“What if there’s a place — a secret place — where nothing is impossible? Miraculous place where you could actually change the world. You wanna go?” Disney thinks you do. Here’s the first full trailer for Tomorrowland, the mystery flick starring George Clooney that the studio has been so secret that it’s likely Edward Snowden doesn’t know much about it. It dropped today following a Facebook Q&A with co-writer/director Brad Bird and co-writer David Lindelof.

Bird and David Lindelof wrote the screenplay for the film, which is Bird’s first directing gig since 2011’s Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol. Here’s the official logline: Bound by a shared destiny, former boy-genius Frank (Clooney), jaded by disillusionment, and Casey (Britt Robertson), a bright, optimistic teen bursting with scientific curiosity, embark on a danger-filled mission to unearth the secrets of an enigmatic place somewhere in time and space known only as Tomorrowland. What they must do there changes the world — and them — forever.

Disney has a lot riding on Tomorrowland, the film it chose to advertise during the Super Bowl. It’s big for Clooney too; he hasn’t starred in a studio tentpole since 2007’s Ocean’s Thirteen, and that was a threequel with a big-name ensemble cast. This could determine whether he a leading man for the masses.

Tomorrowland, which hits megaplexes May 22, also stars Hugh Laurie, Britt Robertson, Raffey Cassidy, Tim McGraw, Judy Greer, Kathryn Hahn, Keegan-Michael Key and Thomas Robinson.

The trailer’s premiere on Facebook followed a live Q&A with Bird and Lindelof, who also produced Tomorrowland with Jeffrey Chernov.  John Walker, Brigham Taylor, Jeff Jensen, Bernard Bellew are the exec producers.

Here’s a look at the official poster for Tomorrowland. So tell us: You wanna go?
