Shelley Conn Joins NBC’s ‘Heart Matters’; Carlease Burke In Suzanne Martin Pilot

Shelley Conn (Terra Nova) has booked a regular role in NBC’s drama pilot Heart Matters. Inspired by the life of Dr. Kathy Magliato, the medical soap follows the outspoken Alex Panttiere (Melissa George), one of the rare female heart-transplant surgeons. Alex brings an innovative eye to treating patients week to week while also balancing the complications of her professional and romantic life. Conn will play Millicent. She and Alex are not exactly rivals but they do not get along.

Carlease Burke (Switched At Birth) has been cast in NBC’s untitled multi-camera Suzanne Martin pilot, from Hazy Mills and Universal TV. It chronicles how things backfire for recent empty-nesters Mike Gunn (Patrick Warburton) and Martina Gunn (Carrie Preston) when their children and their parents move back home. Justice And Ponder-repped Burke will play Alice, Bob’s (Stacy Keach) second wife and Mike’s mother. Burke also recurs on HBO’s Ballers.
