SPWA’s Faith Division AFFIRM Acquires ‘The Devil In Pew Number Seven’

AFFIRM Films, the faith based division of Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions, has teamed with Mass Hysteria Entertainment to make a movie out The Devil In Pew Number Seven, the Rebecca Nichols Alonzo and Bob DeMoss book published in 2010 by Tyndale House. Steve Armour has been set to write the script.

The book tells the true story of Rebecca Nichols, who as a child moved with her father to a North Carolina town where he served as pastor. While he was welcomed by the community, he ran afoul of the man who’d lost control of the church. The family refused to back down to a campaign of intimidation and terror, which led to a violent act that destroyed the family when one night an armed man walked into the family kitchen. Decades later, Rebecca must address if it was worth losing everything, and whether she was able to exercise the lessons her parents taught her about the power of forgiveness.

“Rebecca Nichols Alonzo’s story touched our whole team,” said AFFIRM Films senior veep Rich Peluso. “Her journey through healing and forgiveness recounted before thousands of people across the country proved both engrossing and engaging. We look forward to working with Rebecca, Dan Grodnik and Steve Armour to bring this story to film.”

Armour is repped by Frank Wuliger at The Gersh Agency and managed by Corey Trent Ackerman of FreshMaker Media.
