‘Parks & Recreation’ Ratings Soar In Series Finale, ‘MasterChef Jr.’ & ‘Agent Carter’ Finales Steady

All things come to an end and last night’s primetime saw a lot of shows do just that, some forever and some likely just for now. The big goodbye was, of course, the series ender of Parks and Recreation (1.6/5). Moved to the choice 10 PM slot right after the second night of the start of Season 8 of The Voice (3.8/11), the 1-hour finale of the Amy Poehler and Adam Scott-led comedy saw a not unexpected big big jump from from last week. Up 45% compared to its 8:30 PM show of February 17, Parks and Rec was up even more from its Season 6 finale of April 24 last year. Finale to finale, last night’s show rose 60%. With 4.2 million watching last night’s Parks and Rec, the finale was up 70% from the 2.47 million total viewers of last week and up 54% from the 2.71 million who tuned into the Season 6 ender.

As for The Voice itself, the second night of blind auditions saw the Mark Burnett-produced show pretty much steady with its Season 8 premiere on Monday. Last night’s 2-hour show slipped 7% from the night before and the Tuesday premiere of Season 7. However, compared to Season 6’s Tuesday premiere on February 25 last year, last night’s Voice actually was up 2%. The Voice commonly sees a tenth or more adjustment in final numbers, as Monday’s debut did. So, that preliminary number could rise even more later today. Overall NBC won the night among adults 18-49 with a 3.1/9 rating while CBS was in first place with viewers with 13.577 million watching.

The only one of the Big 4 not to have finales on last night, CBS had a fairly stable night. NCIS (2.4/8) dipped 8% from last week while freshman spinoff NCIS: New Orleans (2.0/6) was even with its February 16 show. Ending the night, Person of Interest (1.7/5) bopped up 6% from last week (Go TeamDominic…you have to watch to get it).

They cooked up a winner on the Season 3 finale of MasterChef Junior (1.6/5) last night. Finale to finale, the Gordon Ramsay hosted show dipped 6% from its Season 2 ender on December 16 last year. Week to week, MC Jr. finale was down 5% from its February 17 show when the two final contestants were decided. The rest of Fox’s night was on a simmer with New Girl (1.4/4) and The Mindy Project (1.1/3) both even with last week’s shows.

Not a lot of changes on ABC on Tuesday either as Marvel’s Agent Carter (1.3/4) wrapped up its 8-episode run. With a villainous cameo at the end, the Captain America movie spinoff stumbled 7% from last week among the demo. In preliminary ratings, that’s a low for the Hayley Atwell starring show but there wasn’t a lot of juice leading in. Then again, there wasn’t a power outage either. The night started with Fresh Off The Boat (1.9/6) even with last week and new unscripted series Repeat After Me (1.3/4) steady with its debut of February 17 with just a 7% dip. Forever (1.0/3) ended things for ABC with a 9% tumble from its last original of February 10.

The CW’s only original of the night was the special TV ‘s Hottest Commercials (0.4/1), which was down 73% from last week’s The Flash in the same slot.
