‘KTown Cowboys’ SXSW Trailer: These Guys Know How To Party

The origins of Ktown Cowboys go back about five years when director Daniel Park and writer Danny Cho created a web series about the late-night high jinks of best friends in Los Angeles’ Koreatown. That series followed fresh-off-the-bus Johnny (Lanny Joon) from Richmond, VA, who, jobless and hearbroken by his girlfriend, is taken under the wing of his cousin Jason (Shane Yoon) and his party hardy friends. The first episode won best feature narrative at the 2010 Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival. Park launched a 2011 Kickstarter and raised $13,750 of their $10K goal, and now Ktown Cowboys is a feature-length movie that will have its world premiere at SXSW next month.

The new film, still directed by music video director Park and written by Cho (MadTV, Parks And Recreation), stars many of the original actors including Yoon, Cho, Peter Jae, Bobby Choy, Sunn Wee to name a few with some notable guys like Daniel Dae Kim (who will be at SXSW to back the pic), Eric Roberts, stand-up Steve Byrne, and Community and The Hangover star Ken Jeong (who also serves as EP) thrown in. The set-up is slightly different this time around with the gang now contending with adulthood. However the night lights of after-hour soju bars and karaoke drinking girls beckons them. Pic is produced by Brian Chung, Greg Bishop and Daniel Sollinger and it premieres March 15 at the Alamo Drafthouse in Austin.
