Oscars 2015 Winners – Photo Gallery

Fox Searchlight’s Birdman had a total of four wins at last night’s 87th Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Director for Alejandro G. Inarritu, Original Screenplay and Emmanuel Lubezki’s cinematography — a second consecutive Oscar for the DP. Wes Anderson’s The Grand Budapest Hotel, also from Fox Searchlight, scored four nods, too. Among them, a first-time win for oft-nominated composer Alexandre Desplat (this was his ninth nomination). Other winners included Whiplash and The Imitation Game. Acting trophies went to Julianne Moore, Eddie Redmayne, Patricia Arquette and JK Simmons.

John Stephens and Lonnie Lynn’s “Glory” from Selma, won the best original song for a motion picture. The cast of the film was moved to tears during the emotional performance by John Legend and Common. Citizenfour, the chilling documentary by Laura Poitras about NSA whistleblower Edward Snowden, won the Oscar for Best Documentary feature. Poitras has identified Citizenfour as the final chapter in a trilogy that follows her previous Oscar-nominated My Country, My Country, about the Iraq war, and The Oath, about Guantánamo. The Clint Eastwood-directed American Sniper won the Oscar for best sound editing. It was the box office record-breaker’s sole win of the night. Check out our gallery of winners above.
