WGA Asks Members For Moment Of Silence For Sarah Jones’ One-Year Memorial

UPDATED, 1:35 PM: There also was a moment of silence to remember Sarah Jones at the Publicists Awards, which are being presented now at the Beverly Hilton.

PREVIOUSLY: The WGA is asking its writers to observe a moment of silence in just a few minutes, at 1:29 PM, to honor WGAwestblackandwhitelogothe memory of Sarah Jones. It is joining other unions representing cinematographers and mechanics in Georgia in memorializing Jones, who was killed a year ago today at that time on the rural Georgia set of Midnight Rider. Here’s the WGA’s message to its members:

This Friday, Feb. 20 marks the one-year anniversary of the Midnight Rider filming accident that took the life of camera assistant Sarah Jones. Please join film and TV industry professionals everywhere in observing a minute of silence to acknowledge the time and date of Sarah’s death. Through solidarity with the crew members who we collaborate with and depend upon, writers can express their concern for on-set safety issues while also memorializing the profound and avoidable human loss that happened one year ago.
