‘The Librarians’ Renewed For Second Season By TNT

TNT has renewed breakout adventure drama series The Librarians for a second season with a 10-episode order for a premiere later this year. An offshoot of TNT’s popular movie franchise The Librarian starring Noah Wyle, The Librarians hails from Wyle, Leverage executive producer Dean Devlin and Leverage co-creator John Rogers. The renewal means that all four new drama series launched by TNT last year — The Last Ship, Murder In the First, Legends and The Librarians — are going to a second season. All were developed and ordered by the network’s previous topper Michael Wright.

The Librarians ranked as basic cable’s No. 2 new series of 2014, second only to The Last Ship. In multi-platform viewing, the drama averaged 11.4 million viewers per episode. Rogers wrote the script and is executive producing with Devlin, Marc Roskin and Wyle for Devlin’s Electric Entertainment. Wyle will return as his Librarian character Flynn Carsen after recurring in Season 1. He is expected to appear in 4-5 episodes and direct one.

The Librarians centers on an ancient organization hidden beneath the Metropolitan Public Library dedicated to protecting an unknowing world from the secret, magical reality hidden all around. Rebecca Romijn, Christian Kane, Lindy Booth and John Kim star as the newest protectors of the world’s mystical treasures, with John Larroquette as their reluctant caretaker.
