John Ortiz Joins ‘Steve Jobs’; Tony Hale In ‘Alvin & The Chipmunks 4’

John Ortiz has joined the cast of Universal Pictures’ Steve Jobs, which kicked off production last month in San Francisco. Ortiz, who’s onscreen in Michael Mann’s Blackhat, will play Joel Pforzheimer, the GQ magazine journalist who is seen interviewing Jobs (Michael Fassbender) throughout the Aaron Sorkin-penned film.┬áDanny Boyle is directing and Uni, which picked up the project from Sony Pictures, said it is sticking to its October 9 release date.

Ortiz, who recurs on HBO’s comedy Togetherness and just wrapped Disney’s The Finest Hours opposite Chris Pine, is repped by Gersh and Sanders Armstrong Caserta.

Tony Hale (Veep) will play┬áthe bad guy in 20th Century Fox’s Alvin And The Chipmunks: The Road Chip, the fourth animated/live-action pic in the franchise that has a December 23 release date. Jason Lee returns with Justin Long, Matthew Gray Gubler and Jesse McCartney. Walt Becker is directing.
