‘Ten Thousand Saints’ Sells To Screen Media – Sundance

Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini’s Ten Thousand Saints has been sold to Screen Media Films at the Sundance Film Festival, where it had its world premiere a week ago in the Premieres section. No deal details on this one, but the 1980s-set drama will get a late-summer 2015 theatrical release in 25 markets day-and-date with VOD.

Asa Butterfield, Ethan Hawke, Emily Mortimer, Julianne Nicholson, Hailee Steinfeld and Emile Hirsch star in the pic, set in New York City, where the son of diehard hippies embarks on an odyssey to the extremities of late 20th century punk culture. It’s based on the novel by Eleanor Henderson.

“This film was one of our favorites at Sundance and we immediately knew we wanted to add the film to our 2015 summer lineup,” said Screen Media president Suzanne Blech. “On top of the stellar performances from the ensemble cast, we have been looking for a way to work with this talented filmmaking team, as we have been fans from afar for many years, and this opportunity just seemed like the right time.”

The deal was negotiated by Blech and Seth Needle, Director of Acquisitions & Marketing, at Screen Media, with CAA on behalf of the filmmakers. Maven Pictures, Archer Gray and Luca Borghese, in association with Bad Medicine Films, Raptor Films, and Tashtego Films. Now its onto Berlin, where The Solution is handling international rights at EFM.
